Welcome to June #SportsVizSunday fans; a month filled with sporting goodness (well maybe excluding the inevitable England batting collapse). To go alongside two tennis majors, US Open golf and two Formula 1 races (to name but a few), we are also treating you to a data viz goodness in the form of our first ever collaboration with the Sean Miller and his incredible #DataPlusMusic community initiative.
Over the years some of the most amazing #SportsVizSunday months have come when we have partnered with other community projects, whether that be Sarah Bartlett's #IronQuest, the amazing team at #DiversityInData or Lindsay Betzendahl's #ProjectHealthViz.
When you look at what Sean is setting out to do with #DataPlusMusic the synergy with #SportsVizSunday is clear:
We all know how amazing and diverse this community is, I want #DataPlusMusic to be this community’s local record shop – join us to discover the new, reminisce the classics, debate the best & the worst. And learn a few things along the way! (Sean Miller - December 2021)
So what is this month's challenge? We recognise one of the barriers to participating in community challenges can be where to find the data to viz on. With this in mind we are providing you with a simple sports and music data set containing:
NFL Super Bowl Half Time Shows
Official Football World Cup Songs
Official England Football Songs
Darts Players Walk-on Songs
What if none of the above gets your data viz juices flowing? No worries, you are most welcome to come up with your own sports and music concept.
As always, if you viz it, we will do our best to showcase your work, so do not forget to publish your viz and tag #SportsVizSunday and #DataPlusMusic to ensure you are featured in our best of the week blog posts.
We cannot wait to see what you all create and a massive thank you to Sean for partnering with us this month.
Team #SportsVizSunday
Oh hang on a minute, it is a world cup year, we are partnering with #DataPlusMusic, you really thought you could get to the end of this post without being told "It's Coming Home" ..... you know it's true!
